On 25th October, 2016, we gathered once again for our annual Hear About Hajj Peace Feast in Cardiff.
These events are an opportunity for non-Muslims to hear from Muslims about their experience of Hajj -- the pilgrimage to Mecca.
49 people attended this event at Deli Fuego restaurant on City Road. A seating plan meant that guests sat alongside people that they didn't know and those of a different faith.
A brief presentation was given about Hajj and what it is, what it entails and why this pilgrimage is so important to Muslims. And then two members of the local Cardiff Muslim community -- Nasim & Amjad shared their personal experiences of going on Hajj.
A delicious meal of mixed mezze, followed by platters of mixed grill were served to the tables, finishing with an amazing mini cake and ice cream dessert. Guests were encouraged to continue to discuss the topic over dinner and the area of the restaurant that we occupied buzzed with conversation all evening!
A fantastic learning experience for all and great fun, with the feedback from all guests on the night being really positive. One guest said afterwards: "Last night was amazing -- thank you so much for inviting us. We both learnt so much. I can't remember the last time I had a conversation with a practising Muslim about Islam... in fact I'm not sure I ever have. It was brilliant to have that opportunity."
